Governor Gavin Newsom Has Appointed Jeffrey Worthe to the California Privacy Protection Agency Board

Governor Gavin Newsom has appointed Jeffrey Worthe to the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) Board.

Mr. Worthe has been President of the Worthe Real Estate Group since 1993. He is a member of the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Board of Directors, University of California Santa Barbara Foundation, Crossroads School, Ziman Center at the University of California Los Angeles, and LA Sports & Entertainment Commission and Core Leadership Group.

“I’m delighted to welcome Jeffrey Worthe to the CPPA Board, and thank him for serving,” said Jennifer M. Urban, Board Chairperson. “I look forward to working with him to protect Californians’ privacy and to provide guidance to businesses.”

The California Privacy Protection Agency is governed by a five-member board. Under the Agency’s implementing statute, the Board Chairperson and one Board Member are appointed by the Governor; one Board Member is appointed by the Rules Committee of the Senate; one Board Member is appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly; and one Board Member is appointed by the Attorney General.

“We are grateful to Governor Newsom for his selection and welcome Mr. Worthe’s perspective and insights on how the Agency can best serve Californians,” said Executive Director Ashkan Soltani.

Mr. Worthe fills the board seat vacated by Chris Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a member of the CPPA Board from March 2021 until December 2022. He departed the board when he began his new role as Chief of Staff for Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.
